This module provides a clear, accessible introduction to Scotland’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy: Trustworthy, Ethical and Inclusive. It explains why the Strategy was developed, what it aims to achieve, and how it frames artificial intelligence in terms of trust, ethics, inclusion and social justice. Participants are introduced to the Strategy’s main ideas and to the way it addresses questions of fairness, equality and children’s rights within Scotland’s wider policy context. The session is designed for a broad audience and does not assume any prior knowledge of AI or Scottish policy. It can be taken on its own or used as a starting point for more detailed study of AI governance in Scotland. Learning takes place through an online module combining guided reading and brief knowledge-check questions. The aim is to help participants understand the key messages of the Strategy and begin to think about what they might mean for their own area of work, study or interest.
